9/3/25D.L. / A.S. / A.S.Introduction to J.S.S. + solar panels and motors.

Balsa Wood was measured and cut.

One hour and thirty minutes.Piece of balsa wood broke and we had to glue it together after sanding it.N/A
9/10/25D.L. / A.S. / A.S.Hot glued in all of the parts (except eyelet and battery holder). Assembled and installed the correct gears. One hour and thirty minutes. We selected the incorrect large gear (chart was hard to read). We couldn’t secure it to the axis and had to figure out the correct gear. We ran out of time.N/A
9/17/25D.L. / A.S. / A.S.Tested the solar sprint car and fixed problems. One hour and thirty minutes. We found out the car went backwards! After some test runs, it stopped working. The soldering of the wires to the clip were not good enough. Mr.Dunscomb had to buy different clips that allowed us to use a screw to secure the wires. We don’t know why, but the car went straight after that!New alligator clips that allowed for using a screw to secure the connections instead of soldering.

A.S. / A.S.Added the eyelet and tested the car again. Prepared website information. One hour and thirty minutes each week. This did not go great. The monofilament we used was really hard to get at the correct height and we accidentally got it wrapped in up the wheels. It was tough to get out. Used a paper clip for the eyelet.

Car Length = 10.5 inches Car Width = 5.5 inches. Car Height = 3.5 inches.

Weight = 8 ounces (before adding ping pong ball and holder – should be play doh and weigh approximately another 4 ounces)

Wheel Size = Front are 1.5 inches and Rear are 1.75 inches

Gear Ratio = We think it is 4 to 1. Four times for the smaller gear for the larger gear to go once.
