Background:
The wind affects the blades of the turbine. The wind causes the blades to rotate, and the trick is to stop the blades in case of emergency. It will cut off the mechanical and electrical drives. High wind speeds can damage the turbines so a controller is used to keep the machine on between a range of 8 to 55 miles per hour. The controller box is necessary to produce acceptable electrical range.
Description:
We chose the wind turbine because of how similar it is to a fan. We like the way a wind turbine works. We decided to use the wood sticks to build the tower and added a fan to function like the top of the turbine. We also used our favorite cartoon character in the scene.
Materials:
Wooden sticks, Hot Glue/Gun, Construction Paper, Clear Tape, Markers, Felt, Cardboard, Mini Plastic Fan Blade, Gears & Motor, Electrical Tape, Electrical Wires, AA Batteries, Electrical Switch, Bart Figurine,
