We are Daisy and Meryl, the Cuisine Queens. We had trouble choosing a name but we eventually settled on Cuisine Queens after going between a food forest and a food palace ( we are not big backs). We have experience from the past two years with solar cars.

Inspiration for Design

We got our inspiration by thinking of foods that are whatever the shape. For example for one of our support tubes we made it a Pringles can. We chose to make the end of the generator’s wires loops because it worked really well last year and it “secures” the clips. We also coiled the wire of the alligator clip inside the support tubes so that they weren’t in the way of the wheels.

How it Works

When the energy from the sun hits the solar panel, it then goes through the alligator clip wires. The energy then is transferred to the generator causing it to spin. Once the generator is spinning, it moves the pully making the back wheels spin. (This year we chose a pulley because we have great past experiences with them.) When it gets placed on the ground, off it goes!

Testing

We tested a LOT! It worked well sometimes, but other times not so much. We had an average of 18.755 when testing with the distance of 21 meters. We tested different ways the string should be, different rubber bands, and certain ways to start it. Here are all of our tests results:
